2011 Kerala Niyamasabha Assembly Elections



In Kerala Assembly Elections will be conducted in 2011 to form a new Government for Kerala for a period of 5 years from 2011 to 2016.

History of Niyamasabha Kerala Legislative Assembly
Sate of Kerala has 140 constituencies and to form a government , candidates are elected from each constituency. And party which has won majority of constituencies will be able to form the government.
The candidates elected in Legislative Assembly elections are known as MLA or Member of Legislative Assembly. Kerala Legislative Assembly is also known as Niyamasabha.
In 1888 - Kerala Legislative Council was formed
In 1904 - Sri Moolam Popular Assembly of Travancore was formed
In 1905 Voting Rights were given to only those citizens who paid an annual land revenue
In 1925 a Legislative Council was formed at Kochi
In 1956 State of Kerala was formed
In 1957 First Election of Kerala was held
In 1st March 1957 Kerala Legislative Assembly was formed



1st Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1957 by Communist Party with E.M.S. Nampoothiripad as the first Chief Minister of Kerala.
2nd Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1960 jointly by Congress and Praja Socialist Party. In this ministry Pattom Thanupillai of Praja Socialist Party was the Chief minister of Kerala.
3rd Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1967 by MarxistCommunist Party of India. E.M.S. Namboothiripad became the Chief minister of Kerala.
4th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1970 with Achutha Menon as the Chief minister of Kerala.
5th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1977 by Congress with K.Karunakaran as Chief minister who resigned after some time. Later A.K. Antony became the Chief Minister and resigned after a few months.
6th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1980 by LDF with E.K. Nayanar as the Chief Minister.
7th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1982 by UDF Congress with K.Karunakaran as Chief Minister.
8th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1987 by LDF with E.K. Nayanar as Chief Minister of Kerala.
9th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1991 by UDF Congress with K.Karunakaran as Chief Minister
10th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 1996 by LDF Communist Party with E.K. Nayanar as Chief Minister
11th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 2001 by Congress with A. K. Antony as Chief Minister. Later AK Antony resigned and Oommen Chandy became the Chief Minister
12th Legislative Assembly of Kerala was formed in 2006 by LDF Communist Party with V.S. Achuthanandan as Chief Minister
